Android Reviews - Get Jar Apps

Get Jar Apps

Get Jar Apps

Pros:

Beautiful layout.

Easy to use, navigate, and search.

Vast collection of totally free applications and games, many of which will cost you money in the Android market.

Free application.

Cons:

My only niggle would be the inability to update your downloaded apps, this is because it doesn’t download from the market, it downloads the APK file and installs it itself. Or maybe you can, but so far I have not found that to be the case.

I rate this App 4/5 ......... Awesome App, and, would get full marks if I could update my downloads.

So what are you waiting for?? Go and download this totally free app now ........... unless you prefer paying for your apps :s

Click Here for direct link or alternatively

Of your choice.

Android Reviews - Krazy Kart Racing

Krazy Kart Racing

Krazy Kart Racing

Using the traditional third-person view, players guide their chosen character around the laps, using whatever they can to steal an advantage over their CPU or multi-player rivals. Nitro boosts can give a welcome burst of speed, while a wide range of extras that can be picked up during the race and can be used to slow down opposing karts.

Think Mario Kart but with less famous characters and significantly less fun and expansive objects. Using the accelerometer to steer the Kart is fun and responsive. Though my arms started to ache after about 20 races. (That may be because I’m not as fit as I used to be lol)

The graphics are animated as you’d expect, and are actually appealing to the eye, the game on the whole is pretty addictive, and, subject to battery life, you could easily while the hours away navigating hairpins, and blowing up other cutesy wutesy fluffy animals. If nothing else, your children will love it, mine sure as hell do.

Pros:

Very enjoyable.

Nice graphics.

Accelerometer controlled steering (always a winner in my eyes ;p).

Child friendly.

Fun for the whole family.

Cons:

You’re going to compare it to Mario Kart, but less weapons and accessories, hold it back quite a lot.

You can find Krazy Kart Racing Here For £2.10

Or look in Get Jar and get it for free

I give Krazy Kart Racing 4/5.

Archos Arnova 8

Initial impressions of the Arnova are that it does look quite nice, not as stylish as it could be, but far from ugly. It is a bit on the weighty side, certainly not something you want to be holding for hours.

As expected the touch screen is a pain, being resitouch it will take some getting used to, it is certainly not good for typing or usage for myself. For my daughter, who is less careful about how hard she presses the screen, it works fine.

To be honest it is difficult to come up with many pros for it on initial usage, it is slow, heavy, comes with very little in the way of apps pre-loaded onto the device and has little internal storage space.

The sound and picture quality are fairly decent, and it will take micro sd cards and there is one USB port. Battery life is not too shabby either.

There is a number of problems with it that I have yet to mention, the wireless is terrible, it struggles to pick up a signal if I am not very close to my wireless modem. Also I have yet to find a way to download any apps to it other than through the app that comes pre-loaded on the Arnova, which requires you to have a Paypay account. I don't have a personal Paypal account and so I have yet to be able to add new apps.

All in all, my initial impressions would be to give it a score of 2 out of 5.

Angry Birds

Angry Birds

What review of Android apps would be complete without this game? Infuriating and maddening as it is, it can genuinely be called a phenomenon. Not just the multiple versions of the game that have been spawned, but the movie tie-ins, soft toys and board games are everywhere. It is impossible to escape, especially if you happen to have children. My daughter loves it, especially the Rio movie tie-in version.

An incredibly simple game, involving firing birds (the Angry Birds from the name) from a catapult to destroy structures protecting their pig enemies. Yes, it really is that simple, but the structures become more complex and you need to utilise the different types of bird and their special abilities correctly to progress.

It is a help to have a bigger screen to play on, and a capacitive touch screen makes it much easier to play too. I often find my Galaxy Tab hijacked by my daughter, she would play for hours if I let her. She would also buy all the stuffed toys and board games too!

In essence it is a simple fun game with very few issues, though I have to admit I got bored of it very quickly and have never had the inclination to try the variations. Mind, to do so would involve all out war with my daughter to get my hands on it!

In summary it is a game for those who want something simple to pick up and play, but will allow you to pass a few hours away quite easily.
